BEHIND THE SCENES

Laura Alexander has worked in four industries since 1986; Government, Medical, Manufacturing, and Construction.  While each area is unique, each has the same basic fundamentals of running a business. Laura is well rehearsed on growing businesses and how brand management is crucial to gaining new clients.

Laura views change as an opportunity to examine what works and what doesn't.  If she can improve a process to save company profits, or reduce delivery time, she has no problem presenting the idea.

Laura grew up in California with her stay-at-home, writer Father.  She relocated to Oregon to accept a position at the Bureau of Labor & Industries.  Later she worked for a hospital working primarily in the Emergency Room, and Radiology, performing cardiology tests.

She was invited to help a local tile manufacturer, recover his lost profits.  She successfully grew from advertising, to General Manager within 6-months.  There were no secrets to her success, she simply began asking existing clients why they weren't buying any longer.  After correcting internal issues, clients gained confidence in the company.

After turning down the requirement to relocate to Italy, Laura accepted a job with a General Contractor which specialized in Capital Construction, in Oregon.  She took on the responsibility of learning to manage multiple projects with values up to $16M.

In 2003 a Senate Bill was passed which negatively affected medium and small construction companies.  Those companies were suddenly disqualified to work on most government projects.  By year 2009 less than 5% of the government projects were available to them for work causing massive lay-offs.

In 2005 Laura began advocating to end tax payer afforded No-Bid public construction contracts which were awarded without validity of construction costs.

Laura sought to bring work back to those medium and small businesses and put workers back to work.  Out of her own pocket she paid for transportation, boarding, and time to generate and promote Senate Bills and House Bills that would ensure fairness in the allotment of government construction contracts. By February 2011, she had two Senate Bills and four House Bills in the committees for review.

Laura is known for seeking a resolution to problems  when everyone else has given up.
